INTRODUCTION TO THE SUKSIS CORPS

The establishment of the Student Volunteer Police Corps (KOR SUKSIS) at Public Universities (UA) was inspired by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi on February 4, 1999. The establishment of the SUKSIS Corps is under the provisions of the Police Act 1967. The establishment of the SUKSIS Corps aims to provide intensive education to students at Public Universities about police training that can shape their character in terms of leadership according to the standards of the Royal Malaysia Police. The exercise is hoped to shape students with excellent character, empowering them to become capable leaders and knowledgeable in the field of policing.

THE OBJECTIVE OF ESTABLISHING THE SUKSIS CORPS IS:

  • To produce volunteer police officers who are knowledgeable in relevant laws and possess and practice police discipline.
  • Acting efficiently and effectively as a Volunteer Police Officer to create civic awareness in fostering good relations between the police and the community.
  • Possessing physical and mental attributes as well as a personality suitable for the role of a Volunteer Police Officer.

The official launch of the establishment of the SUKSIS Corps across all universities has been made by Tan Sri Mohd. Bakri Haji Omar, the Inspector General of Police, at the UiTM Shah Alam Parade Ground on June 24, 2006. Through the implementation of this SUKSIS Corps, UA has a mechanism that can instill noble values and a spirit of love for the nation among students, in order to shape a Malaysian society with first-class character and thinking.
